Our aim is to help improve the quality of life of both adults and children. Working as a humanitarian, community based organisation, we have delivered a number of sustainable community projects including the building of a school hostel for girls and a large community centre, supporting over 20 women's groups and more than 50 students educated along with livelihood projects for young people.
Our office and community centre are located in Muyembe and we support many families and individuals from surrounding villages, all part of the Bulambuli district of Eastern Uganda.
Governments around the world have announced measures to tackle this dreadful virus that has effected everyone. In Uganda, like many other African states, they have had experience through the decades of dealing with such pandemics which means the number of cases being reported remains lower than most other countries.
Rest assured our staff and volunteers at AVS Uganda strictly follow the guidelines that the Ugandan Government publish to ensure their safety - this remains our priority and will shape our plans as we move forward.
Whilst we are unable to run our usual programmes and send our students to school, which still remain closed, our funds are being carefully monitored and we will, where we can, provide support for the most vulnerable. New student sponsorship will be closed in the forthcoming new year as our priority remains with the students we currently sponsor to finish their education.
