For the past two years we have been incredibly lucky to have supporters of AVS run the Ugandan Marathon and raise funds for AVS. The marathon has been featured in The Guardian, BBC, Bloomberg, Runners World and the London Evening Standard. The Ugandan Marathon recently won "Best International Event" at the UK Running Awards and Red Bull named it one of the "9 Best Marathons in the World" in 2018. If you have a marathon in you (or a half one) then get in touch and we can tell you more about this exciting opportunity to make a difference: This email address is being protected from spambots. ANNUAL SUMMER BBQ

This year one of our trustees, Trish Lewis and her husband David hosted the annual AVS fund raising BBQ at their home in Buckinghamshire. With the sun shining down on us and with some of our local loyal supporters we had a wonderful afternoon to help raise funds and have some fun in the sun at the same time. Thank you all to those who attended and contributed.

We were also specially honored by having the late Pamela Roberts family (see picture above with two of our trustees Marie Cates and Amina West) join us and on behalf of their mother made a special donation to AVS towards our vulnerable programme. Pamela was a huge supporter of AVS and her legacy will live on through the work we do.

Bulambuli is a deprived rural area of eastern Uganda where Muyembe is situated and AVS has their central base. Some 80% of its population (total around 150,000) are subsistence farmers who live beneath the poverty line. We have identified that there is a need to address School Drop-Outs, and Unemployed Youths living within the villages of Bulambuli District, with a Vocational Training Scheme.

The programme plans to enhance the employability of 100 recent school drop-outs (aged 16-22) and unemployed youths (22-30) – both male and female, within the first one year period. For more information on our work in this area click here.
